HEAD OF GREEN SPRING BETHNAL GREEN ACADEMY SUSPENDED.
Accusations of exam fixing at the infamous Bethnal Green Academy from where in 2015 3 girls went to Turkey to support Isis has brought the school back into the headlines.
Now renamed as the Green Spring Bethnal Green Academy, the school proudly claimed that 100% of entries passed their A Levels and 90% of pupils achieved grades A-C in Maths and English, placing the school as one of the highest in the country.
The Green Springs Education Trust, which runs the school, have reported that the Head Teacher, Mike Kearney (who is believed to be paid £220,220 the third highest in the country – Taxpayers Alliance stats) as well as some of the other staff have been suspended pending a further inquiry.
This must leave major questions unanswered:
- Were the latest results handed out to pupils who took their exams last year the real grades, or hyped up ones?
- Was the level of education so poor that the Head had to take such extreme measures?
- Are there any other schools out there doing the same thing?
These questions must be answered quickly to ensure confidence not only in the local education system, but in that nationally. These accusations will make us question when any school achieves high exam results, whether those results are genuine or not. This will reflect on the entire teaching profession.
